Paw Paw Deck Staining with Five Levels of Opacity
Clear, transparent, semi-transparent, semi-solid and solid finishes create very different results. Blue Wheel makes the choice easier, then prepares your Paw Paw deck for the selected SuperDeck system.
Choose opacity after evaluating the deck
Grain visibility is only part of the decision. Existing stain, weathering, repairs and the level of color consistency you expect all influence which finish can deliver a credible result.
Five finishes, five different visual outcomes
Finish descriptions guide the conversation; the actual deck, selected color and compatible product determine the final appearance.
Paw Paw finish-selection FAQs
What is the difference between clear and transparent stain?
Clear adds little or no pigment and lets wood gray naturally. Transparent stain adds a light tone while keeping the grain highly visible, so it can enrich color without creating full coverage.
When is semi-solid stain useful?
Semi-solid provides richer pigmentation and can soften board-to-board variation while allowing some grain to show. It is a middle ground when semi-transparent feels too revealing and solid feels too opaque.
